Amsterdam · experience
Ten defining bites and three local drinks, eaten while walking the UNESCO canal ring and the Jordaan — Amsterdam’s history told through what people actually eat.
The experience
This tour treats Amsterdam’s food as a way into its history rather than a separate errand: ten tastings across three hours, from fluffy poffertjes and chicken satay to raw herring, crispy kibbeling, bitterballen and a warm stroopwafel, each paired with a local drink — Dutch herbal bitter, beer, wine or jenever — and a story about how it fits the city’s past.
The route itself does real work too, taking in the UNESCO canal ring, hidden courtyards and the Jordaan, so guests leave with a sense of the neighbourhoods as much as the food. Groups stay small and the guide adapts the pace and detail to who is in it.
A shorter six-taste, two-hour version is available for guests with less time, though the full ten-taste, three-hour tour is the more complete experience of the two.
