Bangkok · experience
A longtail boat through Thonburi’s quieter canals, past stilt houses and a gilded Big Buddha, with a stop at an artist village — Bangkok’s local side, away from the main river.
The experience
Away from the main river, Bangkok’s Thonburi side keeps a quieter network of canals lined with wooden stilt houses, where daily life continues much as it has for generations. This longtail boat cruise follows them past a towering Big Buddha statue and glimpses of temples along the banks, offering a version of the city most visitors on the main river never see.
A stop at the Khlong Bang Luang Artist House breaks the cruise partway through — around twenty minutes to explore stalls, watch a demonstration or browse the artist community, timing worth protecting on a later departure when some stalls begin to close for the evening.
The route finishes at Tha Tien Pier, close enough to Wat Pho to continue straight into a temple visit, or simply to end the morning at the water’s edge.
