Doha · experience
A full day across Qatar’s north and west — Purple Island, the UNESCO-listed Al Zubara Fort, an abandoned pearling village and Zekreet’s Richard Serra sculpture and umbrella-shaped rock — with lunch and transport included.
The experience
The route runs first to Purple Island, once the country’s pearl-diving and fishing centre, then to the UNESCO-listed Al Zubara Fort and the abandoned limestone-and-mud village at Jumail, with a guide explaining each site’s place in Qatar’s history.
It continues west to Al-Shahaniya and the Zekreet Peninsula, where the 18th-century Zekreet Fort, the Richard Serra sculpture set among the dunes and the well-known umbrella-shaped rock make for one of Qatar’s more striking landscapes, before the drive back to Doha.
