Lima · experience
A half-day guided tour through Lima’s colonial historic centre and the San Francisco catacombs, ending at Miraflores’ clifftop Love Park.
The experience
A guide leads the group through the UNESCO-listed historic centre — the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral of Lima and the Government Palace — founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535 on the same layout the city has kept ever since, before continuing to the Basilica and Convent of San Francisco.
Beneath the convent, the group descends into catacombs built around 1600 and used as a burial site for an estimated 25,000 people until 1810, closed for over a century and reopened as a museum in 1950, followed by Miraflores’ clifftop Love Park overlooking the Pacific.
