Lima · experience
A full-day trip to fly over the Nazca Lines — the desert geoglyphs behind a famous ancient-astronaut theory — with dune buggy and sandboarding at Huacachina.
The experience
A small Cessna flight over the Nazca Lines — enormous figures and shapes etched into the desert floor between 500 BC and 500 AD by the Nazca and Paracas cultures — followed by a stop at the panoramic viewing tower and, back at Huacachina oasis, a dune buggy ride and sandboarding on the surrounding dunes.
The lines are best known in popular culture through Erich von Däniken’s 1968 bestseller "Chariots of the Gods?", which claimed without evidence that they were landing strips for ancient astronauts — a theory long dismissed by archaeologists but still widely repeated in documentaries and television.
