A guided visit to Jerónimos Monastery’s Manueline cloisters, a tasting of the original Pastel de Belém, and the Monument to the Discoveries — the Age of Discoveries told where it happened, with the entry ticket included.
The experience
A guide leads the group through Jerónimos Monastery’s Manueline cloisters — a UNESCO World Heritage site built to give thanks for Vasco da Gama’s voyage to India — with the entry ticket included, so there is no separate queue to manage on top of Belém’s already busy pavements.
The walk continues to the original Pastéis de Belém bakery for a tasting of the custard tart in the shop that has made it since the 19th century, then finishes at the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, the monument to Portugal’s navigators on the Tagus waterfront. Entry to the Belém Tower and an afternoon or sunset boat ride on the Tagus can both be added at checkout.
