Madrid · experience
A guided evening through four tapas bars in Madrid’s Literary Quarter — twelve dishes and a drink at each stop, with the neighbourhood’s history along the way.
The experience
A local guide leads a small group — capped at twelve — between four bars in the Barrio de las Letras, Madrid’s old Literary Quarter, tasting twelve tapas in total alongside a glass of wine, beer, vermouth or a soft drink at each stop. The dishes lean toward the traditional: Spanish tortilla, jamón ibérico, garlic prawns and croquettes among them, chosen to show the range of Spanish bar food rather than a single style.
The walk itself is as much the point as the food — the guide narrates the origins of tapas and the quarter’s literary history between stops, past the Plaza del Ángel and Calle de la Cruz, finishing at Plaza Mayor with the evening still open for further exploring.
A private version of the same route is available for groups who prefer their own guide and pace, at a higher price.
