New York · experience
Frank Lloyd Wright’s spiralling rotunda and a modern art collection running from Manet to Kandinsky, on Fifth Avenue.
The experience
The Guggenheim is as much an architectural landmark as a museum — Frank Lloyd Wright’s spiralling ramp, opened in 1959, still reads as radical inside its domed glass ceiling, and remains one of New York’s most photographed interiors.
The permanent collection runs through Manet, Degas, Picasso, Cézanne, Gauguin and Kandinsky, with temporary exhibitions rotating regularly — past programmes have covered Kandinsky, Pollock and Mapplethorpe in depth. This ticket covers both the permanent collection and whatever is currently on show.
Pay-What-You-Wish hours run Monday and Saturday evenings, 4pm to 5:30pm, for those with a flexible schedule and an ID for the reduced rate.
