Paris · experience
A Gothic chapel famed for its stained glass, paired with the former royal palace turned Revolutionary prison next door — both on Île de la Cité, a short walk from Notre-Dame.
The experience
Sainte-Chapelle, consecrated in 1248 for Louis IX, is a UNESCO World Heritage chapel known for its 15 stained-glass windows — 1,113 scenes from the Old and New Testaments — that fill the upper chapel with colour on a sunny day.
The same ticket includes the Conciergerie next door, a former royal palace turned Revolutionary prison, where Marie Antoinette and others awaited trial. A Histopad — available in six languages — reconstructs the medieval palace on-screen as you walk through it.
