Kimono dressing & matcha, Asakusa

A full kimono fitting near Sensō-ji, a matcha tea lesson, then the rest of the day free to explore Asakusa in kimono before returning it by evening.

The experience

A proper kimono fitting in Asakusa, a short matcha lesson, then the district on foot for the rest of the day.

This is a full kimono dressing rather than a quick costume rental: guests choose from a genuine range of kimono and summer yukata at YUI, a shop a few minutes from Sensō-ji, and staff take 45 to 70 minutes over the fitting, hairstyling and accessories — wooden geta sandals and a traditional handbag included.

A short matcha tea lesson follows, led by the shop owner, who also practises tea ceremony and explains the etiquette of drinking matcha in the Japanese tradition, before guests are free to wear the kimono around Asakusa’s streets for the rest of the day, returning it by 5:30pm.

An optional professional photo session — 60 minutes along the backstreets near Sensō-ji and the Sumida River, with edited images delivered within a week — can be added for guests who want more than a phone photo to remember the day by.
