The experience

A hands-on maki and nigiri class in Asakusa, taught in English, eaten at the end.

This is a beginner-friendly sushi-making class in Asakusa rather than a demonstration to watch: after a short, lighthearted quiz on sushi’s history, English-speaking local staff guide guests through making two kinds of sushi by hand — rolled maki and hand-pressed nigiri — before everyone sits down to eat what they made.

No experience is needed, and the class is run for both groups and solo travellers, with staff who keep the pace easy to follow even for a first attempt. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and halal menus can be arranged with notice, though the kitchen cannot accommodate changes requested on the day.

It runs a short walk from Tokyo Skytree, making it a natural way to close out a morning in Asakusa with something to eat rather than just to see.
