The experience

A private, fully flexible day at Mt Fuji, with the route built around the weather and what the group wants to see.

This is a private car and driver-guide for the day, not a scheduled coach tour: pickup is from the Tokyo hotel, and the guide then shapes the route from a long list of possibilities around Mt Fuji and Hakone — the 5th Station, Lake Kawaguchiko, Lake Ashi, Oshino Hakkai’s hot-spring village, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, Arakurayama Sengen Park and its pagoda, and Owakudani Valley among them.

Because the full Fuji-and-Hakone combination is genuinely more than a single ten-hour day allows, the guide typically recommends concentrating on one area in depth rather than rushing both, and adjusts the plan in real time for weather — a considerate touch, since Fuji itself is famously shy of cloud cover and no operator can promise a clear view.

The day ends with a return to the same Tokyo hotel; optional extras along the way — a Kawaguchiko boat ride, the Hakone ropeway, a pirate-ship cruise on Lake Ashi — are not included in the base price and are best budgeted for in cash on the day.

Before you go

A few essentials for the day.

  • Mt Fuji is frequently obscured by cloud — this is genuinely common and is not treated as grounds for a refund.
  • The full Fuji-and-Hakone itinerary is ambitious for one 10-hour day; most guests focus on one area with their guide’s advice.
  • The price shown is per group (up to 5 guests), not per person. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
