The experience

A Viennese dinner, then Mozart and Strauss at the Schönbrunn Orangery.

This evening pairs a three-course Viennese dinner at Restaurant Gerstner, a few minutes’ walk from Schönbrunn Palace, with a classical concert by the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra. Dinner starts at 6:30pm with semolina dumpling soup, roast beef and braised potatoes, and apple strudel — a recipe with roots back to 1697 — with a vegetarian menu available on request in advance.

From around 8:00pm, doors open at the Schönbrunn Orangery (or the Great Gallery on selected dates) for a roughly 105-minute programme of Mozart and Strauss, performed with two opera singers alongside the orchestra. The concert itself begins at 8:30pm.

Four seating categories are available, from standard Category C up to VIP, which adds priority access, a glass of sparkling wine, a programme booklet and cloakroom service. Both the dinner and the concert are fixed, seated events rather than a guided tour.

Who this suits

A good choice when it matches the way you want to use the city.

  • A defined, dress-up evening for a Vienna stay, rather than an open dinner reservation.
  • Travellers who want a classical Mozart-and-Strauss programme paired with a traditional Viennese meal.
  • Guests happy with fixed seating and a set menu rather than choosing a restaurant and a concert separately.
