Nuremberg Uncovered: History, Trials and Art on a Day Ride from Munich

A private eight-hour ride from Munich to Nuremberg: the Palace of Justice and the courtroom of the Nuremberg Trials, the Documentation Centre at the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, and Albrecht Dürer’s House in the old town, with collection and return at your address.

8 hours in total, from collection in Munich to your returnPrivate vehicle

How this ride works

Three chapters of history in one city.

Nuremberg carries more German history than any city of its size. It was the unofficial capital of the medieval empire and the home of Albrecht Dürer; the Nazi Party chose it for its rallies for that reason, and the Allies chose it for the trials of the regime’s leaders for the same one. All three chapters can still be seen, a short drive from one another.

The motorway from Munich takes about two hours each way, so eight hours door to door leave around four in Nuremberg. The three stops are far apart on foot and close by car: the courthouse in the west, the rally grounds in the south-east, the old town in the middle. Two of the museums seen properly, and a walk and lunch in the old town, make a full day.

Standard ride rules

  • The eight-hour service is counted door to door, from collection in Munich to your return, and includes the drive of about two hours each way.
  • Choose all, some or none of the suggested stops, and divide the time in Nuremberg as you wish. The driver waits, moves the car between the stops where that helps, and keeps the return on time.
  • The service begins and ends at a hotel or another address within Munich. Airport and railway-station connections are not part of this ride and are arranged as a separate transfer.
  • The driver provides collection, private transport, waiting and the nearest practical drop-off and pick-up point for each stop. They are local and can offer practical suggestions, but they are not a licensed tour guide and do not provide guided services inside sights.

What the ride can hold.

01 · Confirmed point

Your chosen meeting point

Meet at your hotel or another address within Munich. The driver confirms the most practical collection point before the ride, and the drive to Nuremberg takes about two hours.

02 · Chosen with you

Nuremberg Palace of Justice

The courthouse where the leaders of Nazi Germany were tried before the International Military Tribunal from November 1945 to October 1946. The exhibition on the top floor, the Memorium Nuremberg Trials, tells the story of the trials and of what followed from them in international law, and Courtroom 600 itself can normally be seen. Entry is ticketed, and the exhibition is closed on some weekdays.

03 · Chosen with you

Documentation Centre Nazi Party Rally Grounds

The museum built into one wing of the Congress Hall, the vast unfinished hall that the Nazi Party planned for its rallies. It explains how the rallies were staged and what they led to, and its new permanent exhibition opened in 2026 after several years of rebuilding. The Zeppelin Field with its grandstand lies a short drive around the lake. Entry is ticketed.

04 · Chosen with you

Albrecht Dürer’s House

The tall half-timbered house below the castle where Albrecht Dürer lived and worked from 1509 until his death in 1528, one of the few artist’s houses of its time to survive. Inside are the living rooms, a working print shop and a studio; entry is ticketed. It stands in the best-preserved corner of the old town, a few minutes’ walk from the castle and from the market square, and is the natural place to end the day and have a late lunch.

05 · Confirmed point

Return to your hotel, or to another agreed address within Munich, such as a restaurant for dinner. The driver selects the closest practical point for drop-off within local access rules.

Useful tips

A few details that make the ride easier.

  • The three museums keep different opening days, and the courtroom is occasionally closed for an event. Tell us the date when you book and we will confirm what is open before the ride.
  • Keep passports, tickets, valuables and essential medication with you rather than in a vehicle left at a stop.
  • Tell us about a folding wheelchair, child seat or mobility needs before confirmation; the right vehicle and access points can then be arranged in advance.
  • Tell us about any reserved entry or tour time when you book, so that the collection time can be set around it.

Ride FAQ

Can I customise the ride?

Yes. You may choose all, some or none of the suggested stops, and request another order. The final plan must remain practical within the confirmed eight-hour service, the driving time and the conditions on the day.

How is the time counted?

Door to door. The eight hours run from collection in Munich to your return and include the drive of about two hours each way; the rest is yours in Nuremberg.

What happens after I book?

Your payment confirmation is sent immediately. We then send the practical service details, including the assigned driver and vehicle, once the ride has been scheduled. Payment does not by itself mean the operational service is already assigned.

What if the service cannot be provided?

This is exceptional, but if we cannot provide the booked service we will offer a suitable alternative or arrange a full refund.

What is the cancellation policy?

You may cancel at least 24 hours before the confirmed pickup time for a full refund to the original payment method within five business days. If we confirm a driver no-show, we will also issue a full refund within five business days.

Will there be an official tour guide?

No. The driver is local and may offer practical suggestions, but is not a licensed guide and does not provide guided visits inside sights.

Are entry tickets included?

No. The fare covers the vehicle, the driver, fuel, motorway tolls and parking. Tickets and tours at the sights, where they are needed, are bought or reserved separately. If you reserve a timed entry, tell us when booking, so that the day can be shaped around it.

Do I need to be in good physical shape?

No special fitness is needed. The car brings you as close to each stop as access rules allow; the sights themselves are seen on foot, at your own pace, and the day can be adapted to mobility needs.

Can the ride start or end at the airport?

Not this one. The day begins and ends at a hotel or another address within Munich. For an arrival or a departure, ask us for a separate transfer.
